Sugar, I hate it!! Well I Love it but I hate what it does to me, what I hate more about it is the way major corporations get to market it as healthy living & unknowledgeable trainers don’t know the extent of it. Anything with sugar tastes nice! That’s why we love it, FAT got the bad rep!! FAT MADE YOU FAT!! WRONG!
Years ago fat was out – any kind of fat. Eating fat was thought to make you fat. People losing weight ate nothing but egg whites. This is when the practice of throwing away egg yolks, which for some reason is still common today, began.
No one even knew what the hell omega-3 fatty acids were, and they didn’t want to know because that three-letter FAT word was lodged in the middle of it. Sure, people suffered from terrible skin and hair, both from a lack of egg yolks or dietary fat, but I guess they were at least able to keep their calorie counts down.
I don’t flitch when I say sugar is worse than drugs, alcohol & tobacco and needs to be regulated harder than tobacco and alcohol. Why? We can get it any time we want? Age- doesn’t matter! Price? Cent jellies!
Studies show that too much sugar (both in the form of natural sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup) not only makes us fat, it also wreaks havoc on our liver, messes up our metabolism, impairs brain function, and may leave us susceptible to heart disease, diabetes, even cancer. Almost 80% of our “healthy food choices” is sugar.
Now we don’t have to be a lab scientist here, WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN!!! You will experience that high and more importantly you will experience that low!! Now think about it by yourself in private for a minute, we have all turned to junk, ice cream? Chocolate? Jellies? Cake etc etc – to deal with a moment of low! This is, however you want to “sugar coat” it- its a substance abuse!! When tasting sugar, the brain lights up in the same regions as it would in an alcoholic with a bottle vodka. Dopamine—the so-called reward chemical—spikes and reinforces the desire to have more. (Sugar also fuels the calming hormone serotonin.)
So when this happens!! Great!! Laughing, feel good again, what next? You must come down, when you feel down, you want to go up again right??- Binge Eating!!!! Drug addicts- chasing the dragon. Alcohols – hitting the bottle- The guy & girl “not addicted” – hits the SUGAR!!!!
Now think about the fat free yogurt you buy? That protein bar? That breakfast bar? The Healthy cereal?
Why does that fat free ___ Taste so damn good??? SUGAR!!!
Its all around us! I feel sorry for the people who genuinely “try everything but cant lose the weight” be honest we are or we all know someone who has said this and they are being very honest!
Lets go through how all this effects your brain?
There is a direct link between mood and blood sugar balance. All carb foods are broken down into glucose and your brain runs on glucose. The more uneven your blood sugar supply the more uneven your mood. So think about all those people who skip meals? Unbalanced blood sugar. The people who starve all day and snack at night? The people who starve all week and gorge at the weekend?? The effect is endless!!
Lets go through how fat effects the brain?
Omega-3 fats are called essential fats, because unlike some other substances, they can’t be manufactured within the human body, and therefore it is essential that you take them in through your diet. The richest dietary source is from oily fish such as salmon, sardines, mackerel, pilchards, herring, trout and fresh but not tinned tuna. Surveys have shown that the more fish the population of a country eats the lower is their incidence of depression. There are two key types of omega-3 fats, EPA and DHA and the evidence suggests that it’s the EPA which seems to be the most potent natural anti-depressant.
REMEMBER LOW-FAT IS GOOD- ISNT THAT WHAT THEY SAY!!!
Fat Raises Your Cholesterol and Gives You Heart Disease??
We have all heard this, it couldn’t be further than the truth, remember the egg yolk, main reason – wrong!! Its sugar folks!!! For many decades, people have blamed saturated fat for heart disease… which is the number one killer in the world. Large amounts of sugar can raise LDL(bad cholesterol) raise blood glucose & insulin levels leading to obesity in 10 weeks!!!
So sugar or fat??
So back to all these Fitness Industry companies!! You know, the juices, the motivating type, the points watches, the herb shake , the new VI shake (heard it here first) the good guy who makes every kids cereal.
Now what do you think we are going to find in all these products, you know the “protein Packed” – “Fat Free” – going to change your life in 37mins if you take up a payment plan for 6 years …
Now big companies equals even bigger taxes!!! So why don’t we go into our supermarket and see signs “yes its fat free but we have laced it in sugar to make it taste nice & ensure you get addicted”?? Well, one reason we have a Minister of Health who looks like the Minister Of Gluttony.. Money talks, sugar makes money from companies making money! more money, more taxes, more health care bills!!!!
Disagree? Why have we obese kids in primary schools with figures on the up??

Now what I have done for you is this.. I have went into a supermarket and bought healthy food for 1 day.
Meal 1- Red berry cereal with fat free milk & a cold glass of cranberry juice.
Total 370 cal – 50g of Sugar.
Meal 2 – (snack) – Superfood blueberries smoothie with 3 gluten free rice cakes.
Total – 484 cal - 68g of sugar.
Meal 3 (im a diet lunch) – Pineapple, fat free yogurt with some mixed nuts abd dried fruit.
Total – 415 cal – 59g of sugar
Meal 4- (snack)- Gluten free, wheat free energy bar.
Total – 250 cal – 12g of sugar.
Meal 5- (dinner) – Sweet & Sour chicken
Total – 315 cal – 20g of sugar.
209g of sugar!!!
Daily intake women – 2000cal – 70g sugar.
Male – 2500cal – 90g of sugar.
Weight loss, fat loss, being healthy isn’t just calorie deficit.
Weight loss is easy, take it from the guy who went from 23 stone to 13 stone!! Its how you do it is what counts!! Now the next time your trainer wants to say ah ya have x,y,z its calories in, calories out! Remember I’m ‘The Dickhead’ who doesn’t allow you all the nice food out there!!!
I was 23 stone, I was over weight/fatter/obese for 70% of my life I know how easy it is for people to play on your emotions. Save your money, invest it in health, be happy!! Beat The Bullshit!!!!
1)I know the importance of sugars intra and post workout, this isn’t aimed at insulin sensitive athletes and bodybuilders.
2) Three companies have offered me positions to become a REP for the companies to “make a couple grand a month” I immediately said No Thank You.
3) Am I saying you can never eat these foods EVER in your life? Of course not, but is breaking your addiction important? Of Course.
3) I turned 27 at the start of the month I was 23 stone at 19. 18 stone at 20, I know how vulnerable it can be to bullshit.
